A full-frame mono camera for wide, deep narrowband and LRGB images
Why we like the ASI6200MM Pro:
- The biggest sensor ZWO makes: the 36 × 24mm full-frame IMX455 covers 2.3 times the area of an APS-C sensor, so big targets like the Veil or the Heart and Soul fit in one frame instead of a mosaic.
- Detail and dynamic range together: 62MP with 3.76µm pixels, a true 16-bit ADC and a 51,400e⁻ full well hold faint nebula detail and bright star cores in the same frame.
- Mono for the most from every photon: 91% peak QE and narrowband filters let you shoot hydrogen, oxygen and sulfur from a city backyard, even with the Moon up.
- Worth knowing: a full-frame sensor needs a telescope with a large, flat image circle (about 44mm or more), 2-inch filters and a filter wheel. If your scope only covers APS-C, the ASI2600MM Pro is the better match.
The ZWO ASI6200MM Pro (2025 model) is a cooled monochrome astronomy camera built around Sony's 62-megapixel full-frame IMX455 sensor. It's for imagers who already know their way around a mono workflow, or who are ready to step up to one, and who want the widest field and the most resolution ZWO offers. Two-stage cooling holds the sensor about 35°C below ambient, dark current is tiny, and there's no amp glow, so long narrowband subs calibrate cleanly. The body weighs 0.7kg (1.54lb).
Key specs: Sony IMX455 full-frame mono sensor, 36 × 24mm · 62MP (9576 × 6388) · 3.76µm pixels · 16-bit ADC · read noise 1.2–3.5e⁻ · 51.4ke⁻ full well · 91% peak QE · two-stage cooling to 35°C below ambient · USB 3.0 with 512MB buffer · 0.7kg (1.54lb)

What you can image
- Large nebula complexes in one frame: the Veil Nebula, Heart and Soul, the North America and Pelican, and the Orion region. On a 400mm refractor the field is about 5.2° × 3.4°.
- Narrowband from light-polluted skies: hydrogen-alpha, OIII and SII images of the Eagle, Rosette, Crescent and Elephant's Trunk Nebulae from a Denver-area backyard.
- Galaxies with room to crop: the Andromeda Galaxy, M81 and M82 together, and the Leo Triplet. At 600mm the image scale is about 1.3″ per pixel across a 3.4° × 2.3° field.
- LRGB color: shoot luminance for detail and red, green and blue filters for color, then combine them for natural-color galaxies and clusters.
How it works
The camera connects to a computer or an ASIAIR Plus over USB 3.0 and runs its cooler from 12V power. A filter wheel in front of the camera switches filters during the night, and software combines each filter's frames into a color image. The camera body has two USB 2.0 ports for the filter wheel and guide camera, which keeps cables short at the scope.
The sensor sits 17.5mm behind the front of the camera. ZWO includes the extenders needed to reach the standard 55mm back focus that most flatteners and reducers expect, and the camera's 0.7kg weight keeps the imaging train light for its size.

What to add for the best results
- 12V power (required for cooling): the ZWO 12V 5A adapter at home, or a 12V power tank in the field.
- ZWO 7-position 2" filter wheel (required for color): holds a full LRGB and narrowband set. It's 20mm thick and powered over USB from the camera's hub.
- Optolong LRGB + SHO 7nm filter set (2"): seven filters for the seven slots, or start with the ZWO 7nm SHO set for narrowband only. Choose 2-inch filters; 1.25-inch filters will vignette this sensor.
- ZWO Large OAG (12mm prism) with an ASI220MM Mini guide camera: guides through the main telescope, which suits long focal lengths.
- ZWO EAFN electronic focuser: refocuses automatically after each filter change and as the temperature drops.
- ASIAIR Plus: runs the camera, filter wheel, mount, guiding and focuser from your phone, including multi-filter sequences.
- A mount: a ZWO AM5N for refractors up to about 100mm with this camera, or a ZWO AM7 for larger scopes.

ZWO ASI6200MM Pro FAQ
Is the ASI6200MM Pro good for beginners?
It's best as a second or third camera. Mono imaging means a filter wheel, filters and more processing, and the full-frame sensor needs a telescope that covers it. If this is your first dedicated astro camera, we usually suggest the ASI2600MC Pro.
ASI6200MM Pro or ASI2600MM Pro?
Both use 3.76µm pixels, so detail per pixel is the same. The ASI6200MM Pro covers 2.3 times the sky area on the same telescope but needs a full-frame image circle and 2-inch filters. The ASI2600MM Pro costs about half as much and works with smaller filters and more telescopes.
What telescope works with it?
One with a flat field of about 44mm or more, usually a refractor or astrograph sold as full-frame compatible, with a flattener or reducer set for 55mm back focus.
Which filters do I need?
Two-inch mounted filters (or 50mm unmounted) in a 2-inch filter wheel. A common set is luminance, red, green and blue plus hydrogen-alpha, OIII and SII, which fills the 7-position wheel exactly.
Can I use it without a computer?
Yes, with an ASIAIR Plus. It controls the camera, filter wheel, focuser and guiding from a phone or tablet.
What power does it need?
The camera reads data over USB, but the cooler needs 12V DC (center positive, 5.5 × 2.1mm). ZWO recommends a supply of at least 3A.
